In 2010 the Branch hosted Ottawa's first Walk2Hear, growing public awareness and bringing the hard of hearing community together.

The event came four years after the Branch adopted its current identity. In 2006 it became the CHHA National Capital Region Branch, recognizing that hearing loss advocacy in the region needed broader representation than an Ottawa specific name conveyed, and acknowledging the federal presence and wider geography of the area.

Community building continued from there. In 2012 the Branch partnered with the Canadian Red Cross to sponsor a workshop certifying hard of hearing members in Standard First Aid and CPR, extending accessibility into emergency preparedness training.
